It’s a great idea to develop an Android Bible application which can use theWord Bible modules. However, as of right now it only seems to work with full Bible modules (.ont) and not with New Testament modules (.nt). I solved it by adding the OT text from another module to my NT module, but it would of course be good if it was possible to use the NT modules as they are.

Thank you for your feedback. Yup, right now it only works with .ont file.
If you don’t want to use OT text from another module, you can leave empty line 1 – line 23145.

For others who want to knows step by step instructions to convert theword .nt file become .ont file, here it is:
    1. rename file to .ont
    2. make a blank lines on line 1 – line 23145
    3. new testament text occupied line 23146 – line 31102
    4. leave line 31103 blank
    5. fill line 31105 with unique id
    6. fill line 31106 with bible name
    7. fill line 31107 with about information (you can use HTML tags here)

This is the example of new testament only bible: http://open-bibles.appspot.com/bibles/nias.zip

    Dear Yohan,
I am new to Open Bibles. Thinking of buying an android tablet and install the Open Bibles. You mentioned “Bible files can be read on your PC using theword.net software.” Can all free modules (.ont files and others) from theword.net be installed and read using the Open Bibles on the Android tablet? Also, what is the best text processor software do you use to edit UTF-8 plain text file?
    Thank you! – KT

      Hi,

OpenBibles can only read .ont files (free bible files which contains old and new testament) from theword.net. All other free modules from theword.net can’t be read on OpenBibles. I’m using Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org) for editing UTF-8 text file.

      Thank you…

This is the most amazing program! I have downloaded several, but it is my favorite. I have it set for Chinese Simplified characters on top and Pinyin on the bottom, to help with the characters I’m not sure about. It is a simple and fast way to improve my Chinese while reading the Word (and then I use another program that compares Chinese with the Greek, which adds another dimension).

Thanks so much for a wonderful program. I’ve only just now entered the site for the first time but I certainly want to donate to your work.

    Blessings,

    Dr. Bill Brown, Xiamen University
